FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT
Femi.Eko menstrual panties
How much liquid can Femi.Eko® period pants absorb?
Femi.Eko® menstrual underwear range is extensive and designed for various absorption needs.
While some Femi.Eko collections can absorb the equivalent of 5 regular tampons (45 ml), the Luna and AllBody collections can absorb up to 8 regular tampons (60 ml). Most Femi.Eko menstrual underwear offers medium to high absorbency, which is ideal for up to 10 hours of protection, although, depending on your flow, you can wear the underwear for up to 12 hours (doctors do not recommend this long as it is best to maintain safe hygiene). The difference in protection level comes from the absorbent layers, which can be thicker with more layers or have fewer layers (e.g., Femi.Eko light absorbency), as well as the absorbent area, which can cover half or the entire back of the underwear.
How are period underwear made?
Femi.Eko® menstrual panties look and feel like regular underwear but feature three or four specialized layers in the absorbent area, depending on the model. The top layer, which touches the skin, is made from organic cotton and hemp, free from PFA and pesticides, ensuring safety for your reproductive health while also possessing antibacterial and hypoallergenic properties.
The middle layers are designed for maximum absorbency, made from a blend of cotton, hemp, bamboo, or other organic materials (depending on the model), without the use of microfibers. The final layer is a waterproof PUL or TPU barrier that prevents liquids from leaking through.
The main fabric of the panties varies by style, but it is always carefully selected to be soft, breathable, and comfortable. All Femi.Eko fabrics are OEKO-Tex certified, and Femi.Eko never uses biocides or nanosilver / SilverClear mixtures, which can disrupt hormone activity.
Despite having multiple layers, Femi.Eko® menstrual panties feel like regular underwear, allowing you to enjoy your day without discomfort or restrictions. You'll forget you're even on your period and enjoy the same freedom and comfort as with regular panties.
Will menstrual panties stay tight?
"Femi.Eko®" period panties are made to be highly absorbent due to their innovative fabric layers. Femi.Eko period panties have a waterproof base for extra protection (PUL). Like disposable pads, period panties, of course, need to be changed before they are completely saturated with liquid. When you wear period panties for a short time, you know when it's time to change them.
While period panties are not designed to leak, a small area may become soaked (in a short time) or may leak around the side seams. Try to avoid tight jeans or sitting in the same position for several hours on heavy flow days.
If you notice a leak, please contact us and explain the problem, and we will advise you. If there is a manufacturing defect, we will gladly replace your product within 90 days of the purchase date.
How to wash period underwear?
Femi.Eko® period pants are easy to wash! After use, first rinse them with cold water to remove excess blood. Then, wash them in the washing machine with similar coloured clothes at 40 degrees Celsius.
After your period, disinfect your period pants at 60 degrees Celsius. Do not use fabric softeners or disinfectants, as this may affect the absorbency of the period pants and harm the pH of your genitals. After washing, you can hang them to dry or tumble dry them at a low temperature.
Avoid high temperatures, as this can damage the fabrics over time. Use a laundry bag during frequent washing to protect the fabric.
Are period underwear safe to use?
Reusable Femi.Eko® period panties are generally more breathable and expose the intimate area to fewer aggressive and harmful chemicals than sanitary pads, which are usually made from chemical compounds and treated cotton. Of course, it is important to change period panties regularly and keep the intimate area clean after each use. Like any other menstrual product, they can irritate the skin if they become oversaturated and wet.
Femi.Eko period panties are made from Oeko-Tex certified fabrics, a blend of hypoallergenic organic cotton and antibacterial hemp, without polyester or microfiber, making them a more sustainable choice for both your body and the planet.
What makes Femi.Eko® menstrual panties different from others?
High Absorbency: Femi.Eko® offers a diverse collection of period underwear tailored to different absorbency needs. Some models can hold up to 100 ml of fluid – equivalent to 10 regular tampons – providing reliable protection for up to 12 hours.
Safe and Sustainable Materials: Femi.Eko's commitment to safety and sustainability is evident in every product. The top layer that touches the skin is made from organic cotton and hemp, free from PFAs and pesticides. This promotes better reproductive health and comfort.
Easy Care: Femi.Eko® period underwear is designed for convenience. Simply rinse them in cold water to remove excess blood before machine washing at 40°C. For extra hygiene, wash at 60°C after your cycle for thorough disinfection.
Hemp Absorbent Layer: A distinctive feature of Femi.Eko® is the use of hemp in its absorbent layers. Hemp is durable, breathable, possesses natural antibacterial properties, and is environmentally friendly in its production process.
Innovative Technology: Femi.Eko® has developed a patent-pending absorbent layer technology that provides natural antibacterial properties, ensuring both comfort and hygiene.
In summary, Femi.Eko® period underwear combines superior absorbency, sustainable materials, easy care, and cutting-edge technology with hemp to offer a comfortable, reliable, and eco-friendly menstruation solution. These unique features make Femi.Eko® the top choice for those seeking high-quality, environmentally conscious menstrual hygiene products.
Why do we use hemp fabric for our absorbent layer?
Sustainability: Hemp is a fast-growing, renewable resource that requires minimal water and no pesticides, making it an eco-friendly choice for sustainable textiles.
Durability: Hemp fibers are incredibly strong and long-lasting. They create fabrics that retain their elasticity and become more absorbent with each wash, ensuring a longer product lifespan.
Breathability: Hemp is naturally breathable and moisture-wicking, providing comfort in all weather conditions while remaining dry and comfortable throughout the day.
Antibacterial properties: Hemp has natural antibacterial properties that help reduce odors and promote hygiene. It can also be washed at 60 °C without shrinking, maintaining its properties and cleanliness.
Eco-friendly processing: The production of hemp fabric generally uses fewer chemicals and toxins compared to other textiles, further reducing its environmental impact.
Biodegradability: Hemp textiles are fully biodegradable, meaning they naturally break down over time, contributing to waste reduction and a healthier planet.
By choosing hemp, we ensure that Femi.Eko products are not only high-quality but also environmentally friendly.
How to find the right size?
It might be useful to check the Femi.Eko size chart. Femi.Eko measurements are designed for comfort, so choose the right size for you.
Can I use period underwear without additional protection?
Everything depends on your menstrual flow and knowing what level of absorbency works best for you and when. Femi.Eko® menstrual panties can completely replace disposable menstrual products (pads or tampons), but can also be used in conjunction with them. Even better for you and the planet is that you can use menstrual panties together with a Femi.Eko® menstrual cup, menstrual disc, or reusable pad.
Are period panties comfortable?
The panties are not only comfortable but also made of a highly breathable fabric that touches intimate areas, protecting against itching or dryness. The panties stay dry for hours and absorb blood very quickly.
The breathability of the hemp fabric prevents bacterial growth, so you may experience less odor and irritation. Some users claim that the breathability prevents the feeling of insecurity and wearing bulky pads, which is typically felt when using classic sanitary pads. Furthermore, it helps maintain a low body temperature as you get rid of the plastic typically used in sanitary pads, which provides greater comfort and much greater assurance that no bad odor will spoil your day.
Are Femi.Eko® menstrual panties suitable for heavy bleeding?
Yes, Femi.Eko menstrual panties can indeed be super absorbent, holding up to 12 tampons' worth of liquid, which is 100 ml of blood. Femi.Eko® menstrual panties are an excellent solution, designed with a fully absorbent layer at the front and an extended back for extra security during heavy flow or nighttime wear, so you can feel secure during the day and while you sleep.
Will period panties smell?
No, Femi.Eko® period underwear generally stays fresher than other intimate products. This is because the fabric is breathable and most of the liquid remains in the inner layers. This helps to stop the growth of bacteria that commonly cause unpleasant odors.
Femi.Eko® patented absorption technology is made of hemp fabric/fiber, which is naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic.
To protect against odors, you can soak your period underwear in vinegar or baking soda to remove any potential bad smells, and they can be washed at 60 degrees.
If you notice strange odors, you may need to consult a doctor to rule out any undetected infections.
When washing period underwear, do not add fabric softener or perfumes, as this can destroy the protective layers and disrupt your flora balance.
How many pairs of period pants should I use?
This depends on the heaviness of your flow and whether you are using, for example, a menstrual cup or alternating with other types of Femi.Eko® menstrual underwear. Typically, women have between 5 and 10 pairs of menstrual underwear. A simple way to answer this is to calculate how many disposable pads you usually use during your period and divide this number by 3. You may need to wash your menstrual underwear and prepare it for immediate use. This is good because you know best what detergents you have used and that there is nothing harmful in the fabric that comes into contact with your intimate areas. If you can wait to wash your menstrual underwear about every other day, you can reduce the number of pairs needed.
How long can I use the same period panties?
During a normal period, you may need to change your period underwear about twice a day. However, if you have heavy bleeding, you can choose to change them 3 times a day or opt for extra absorbent underwear. Generally, period underwear should not be worn for longer than 12 hours, as this is not hygienic.
Can teenagers use Femi.Eko® menstrual panties?
Of course it can. Sustainable education should start early, and we support teenagers in being environmentally friendly by choosing products that will change their lives for the better while protecting the planet. Wearing period underwear early can help young girls and teenagers feel in control of their cycle, rather than spending a fortune on products that end up in landfills. In addition, they will feel more confident, experience less discomfort when changing pads or being judged in various life situations, and can avoid prejudice about period shame.
Can I use period underwear for incontinence or postpartum bleeding?
"Femi.Eko®" period panties are a great product that can be used even for light urinary incontinence. People with this problem need daily protection. While disposable pads can increase the risk of fungal and bacterial infections or cause irritation and chafing, Femi.Eko® period panties can be a godsend for those who need daily protection. This is due to the comfort and breathability of the panties, as well as the fact that the hemp blend absorbent layer provides natural and antibacterial protection.
After childbirth, many women choose period panties as a natural option that is comfortable and promotes postpartum healing, as they are gentler on the intimate skin. In addition, the extra protection at the back of the panties provides added security and confidence, allowing you to enjoy life's best moments without worrying about a new period.
Periods will change forever. We promise you that!
How do I change my period underwear when I'm not at home?
During your period, it may be useful to carry spare period panties and a small plastic bag for used panties. If you prefer a more environmentally friendly solution, you can opt for Femi.Eko's specially designed wet bag instead of a plastic bag. A wet bag can be used to store period panties and is a great helper when Aunt Flo arrives. If you don't have the option to change your panties in a public restroom, we recommend carrying a reusable "Femi.Eko®" pad with you for extra protection.
How long can period panties last?
The lifespan of Femi.Eko® period underwear can vary greatly depending on how they are cared for and how often they are used, or if they are used in conjunction with other products. Generally, Femi.Eko® period underwear lasts for 2 to 5 years, but we recommend replacing them after 2 years as the protective layer may wear out with use and washing.
How to wash Femi.Eko® menstrual underwear?
Blood is a tough stain to get out, so always start with cold water, whether you're washing sanitary pads, period underwear, or cleaning stains from sheets. Before washing, soak your period underwear in cold water or rinse the stain with cold water, gently rubbing it with your hands (especially if the blood has clotted in the absorbent area).
Afterward, simply wash your period underwear as usual at 40°C in a washing machine or by hand. At the end of your menstrual cycle, disinfect the underwear by washing it at 60°C. If washing by hand, it's helpful to soak them for easier cleaning. Gently rub them with warm water and hypoallergenic detergent, then rinse thoroughly with cold water until clear.
We recommend avoiding fabric softeners as they reduce absorbency. Bleaching the underwear is also not recommended, as it can damage the material and affect absorbency, in addition to chemical exposure to the skin. You can air-dry the underwear by hanging them or tumble dry them, but avoid high heat or full-power dryer settings. The fabric may stiffen slightly when air-dried initially.
Sunlight can help remove stains and kill bacteria, but prolonged exposure can fade colors and damage waterproof layers. Always stretch the underwear after washing to restore their shape. Never iron period underwear! Avoid using perfumes or strong chemicals, as they can disrupt hormones and affect vaginal pH. For long-term care, you can wash period underwear in a laundry bag to protect them.
I spend a lot of time sitting on a chair in the classroom or office, is there a risk of leakage?
Although Femi.Eko® period panties are of good quality and offer full protection, we cannot guarantee that they will be leak-proof.
It all depends on how heavy your period is or whether you are prone to heavy bleeding, which can often be a risk. If you have days with heavy bleeding, we recommend using an additional menstrual cup or menstrual disc from Femi.Eko®, which will certainly provide you with the necessary safety.
The best way to check absorbency is to use the panties at home for the first time.
Can I wear period underwear while exercising?
Yes, it's a great way to enjoy sports and other regular activities. However, before using Femi.Eko® period panties during exercise, it's best to familiarise yourself with their absorbency, and the best way to test them is to wear them at home for the first time. For extra security, try a Femi.Eko® menstrual cup or best-selling menstrual disc. This combination is perfect for very active women, no matter how much they bleed.
Can I wear period underwear all night while sleeping?
Yes, you can, and you'll find it can be much more comfortable and safer. It's also a healthier option, as women are often advised not to use tampons overnight to allow menstruation to flow naturally. Once you discover the full potential of "Femi.Eko® Extra Heavy" period panties, they will change your period experience forever. For nighttime, we recommend panties with full back absorbency to ensure complete coverage and protect your sheets from leaks even when sleeping in awkward positions. Try them yourself!

fluxies period panties are designed to completely replace disposable products and ensure maximum comfort.
Each pair of fluxies underwear features fluxies' innovative built-in technology – a moisture-wicking top layer that helps you stay fresh and dry, an absorbent core layer that locks in liquid, and a leak-proof outer layer that protects against any leaks.
How much do Fluxies period pants absorb?
fluxies models usually absorb from 7 ml (1 regular tampon) to 40 ml (5 regular tampons), so everyone can find the right absorbency for themselves.
What are the advantages of Fluxies period panties?
Eco-friendly: Made from sustainable and reusable materials, they are gentle on the environment.
Comfortable: Soft, breathable fabrics and a comfortable fit ensure all-day comfort.
Stylish: Fashionable patterns and designs that boost confidence and mood.
Convenient: Reusable and low-maintenance, making period care hassle-free.
Are Fluxies period pants stain-resistant?
The absorbent materials in period underwear are always black to conceal stains. Fluxies period underwear is not stain-resistant.
For Fluxies to be stain-resistant, Fluxies would have to treat the materials used. These treatments would leave harmful substances and toxins in the leak-proof underwear, which Fluxies does not want in its naturally antimicrobial underwear.
Can Fluxies menstrual panties absorb blood clots?
Fluxies period-proof underwear treats blood clots similarly to pads. The underwear does not absorb the blood clot itself, but it absorbs the surrounding moisture, keeping you fresh and dry.
Are period panties hygienic?
fluxies period underwear is highly absorbent, odor-controlling, and moisture-wicking, designed to keep you feeling fresh and dry. Even if your underwear hasn’t reached its full capacity, we still recommend changing them once a day, just like regular underwear.
What materials are Fluxies period underwear made from?
Fluxies period underwear are made from various sustainable materials. The main materials used in Fluxies are Tencel Modal, organic cotton, recycled nylon, and biodegradable TPU (TAB).
What size should I order?
We have size guides for all our different fluxies underwear models.
You can find the size guides on the individual product pages.
Can I swim in Fluxies period pants?
We do not recommend swimming with regular Fluxies period underwear, which are not designed for that purpose.
Fluxies has developed special swimwear briefs. The waterproof outer fabric allows water to simply roll off, keeping you fresh and dry all day, whether you're swimming or just lounging by the pool.
Which period panties should I wear under tight clothing?
We recommend using the Fluxies seamless underwear range. This underwear is designed to absorb excess fluid in menstrual panties. Here you can buy seamless underwear that absorbs excess fluid in menstrual panties.
Can I wear period underwear if I'm bleeding after birth?
fluxies can provide reliable leak protection after childbirth. For the best fit postpartum, we recommend choosing briefs with high or extra-high absorbency.
Can menstrual fluxies underwear replace your current menstrual products?
Fluxies are a complete replacement for single-use products such as pads, tampons, liners, and cups. Fluxies' highest absorbency models hold up to 5 tampons. For most flows, Fluxies can last an entire day! Or you can use Fluxies period underwear together with a tampon or a disc.
How long can I wear Fluxies underwear without leakage?
You can wear fluxies period pants for as long as your flow allows. Everyone's flow is different and the absorbency type you choose will affect how long you can wear fluxies underwear. We recommend changing your period underwear daily, just like your regular underwear.
How do you know when it's time to change your period underwear?
A good indicator that your Fluxies period underwear has absorbed its maximum capacity is if there's blood on the seams – it's time to change them.
Will people know I'm wearing Fluxies period pants?
No, not at all. fluxies period pants are designed to be discreet, looking and feeling like regular underwear, with no visible lines or bulk.
How many pairs of period pants do I need for a whole cycle?
We recommend starting with 3–7 pairs of Fluxies period pants to cover your entire period. It is also a good idea to use a few pairs to determine how heavy/light your flow is and which products best meet your needs.
Can I wear pads for my period with Fluxies underwear?
Fluxies does not recommend this. Fluxies leak-proof underwear is designed to absorb leaks when worn alone. If you use a pad and it starts to leak, blood or urine will not penetrate the pad, but will run off the sides of the leak-proof underwear, meaning they will not be able to perform their function.
How to care for Fluxies period underwear?
fluxies briefs are very easy to care for: rinse them under running water until clear, throw them in with the rest of your laundry, and wash at 30°C. Do not use fabric softener or bleach. Once washed, hang the leak-proof briefs to dry.
Can I machine-wash period underwear?
Yes.
Alternatively, you can hand wash your fluxies underwear.
What temperature should I wash period underwear at?
Machine wash fluxus at up to 30 °C. If hand washing, the water should be lukewarm.
Can I recycle my Fluxies pants?
Yes, all Fluxies underwear are made from Tencel modal or organic cotton, so Fluxies underwear are biodegradable.
First, wash your Fluxies, then cut out the inner absorbent layer and discard this fabric. The Tencel or cotton body and the TPU waterproof layer can be composted for biodegradation.
How to dry period-proof underwear?
The drying time of leaky period underwear depends on their absorbency.
Models with average absorbency dry in about 10 hours, while highly absorbent ones take about 18 hours.
Drying time is affected by the humidity level and airflow in the space where you hang them. Therefore, for faster drying, we recommend drying them in the sun or on a dehumidifier.
Never tumble dry – this will damage the waterproof layer sewn into the gusset.
Why do my period panties smell bad?
If you have left your underwear wet for too long or if absorbed blood has built up in the gusset, this can cause an unpleasant odour or affect the properties of the period underwear. If your fluxies need a little care, try soaking them in vinegar.
Before machine washing the underwear, soak them in a sink with one cup of white vinegar and warm water. Leave them to soak for about 30 minutes, then put them in the washing machine.
Can I use fabric softener?
No, the use of fabric softener can damage fluxies' absorbent technology. Fabric softener coats the fabric fibres to make them softer. Over time, this will make the insert less absorbent.
